72We all have that list of the best movies ever since. Most of them are on the our list which. I will enumerate the list of the thirty most-watched movies until the present day.
The time that the film industry earned a lot of money in their productions have had better days. I say that because it was mainly in the sixties (60) that Hollywood was at the height of its production, with seven (7) movies in the list of most-watched movies of all time. After 2000, only two films made the list of most-watched movies of all time, including the Dark Knight (2008), at position 27 and even Shrek 2 (2004) in the last position.
Needless to say, that the large and well-known director, Steven Spielberg, has four (4) films in the list of most watched movies of all time.
Next is the list of 30 most-watched movies of all time, with the year of production and turnover of each, beginning in the biggest film of all time:

How have you worked out the dollar value of the films when the ticket prices varies so much? How much did it cost to see Gone With the Wind compared to Star Wars? Would it not be better to rate it by the number of tickets sold, then inflation would be out of the equation. Then we would have a true rating of the most watch (Commercial) movie ever.
Interesting, but you didn't account for inflation. For example, Star Wars The Phantom Menace grossed nearly a billion dollars, over 400 million domestic but the original Star Wars (A New Hope) in inflated dollars tops 2 billion dollars. Just wondering what your criterion was? In terms of viewers, A New Hope takes all records.
